Managing a small business is filled with opportunities and challenges so you have to be careful about how you spend your time. Cash flow management, new product opportunities, competitive threats, economic influences, personnel, customer service, quality, growth, marketing, sales, financing, communications, vision and planning are just a few of the many issues that compete for your time and attention. Unlike larger firms, you do not have layers of management to draw from to help address these issues.
Because successfully operating a small business is difficult, you are to be commended for the commitment, dedication and sheer energy you have devoted to get your business up and going. Only those of us who have been there fully understand the commitment required.
Having spent years in positions similar to yours, I frequently found myself without a consistent, objective and trusted advisor with whom to plan, discuss, brainstorm, vent and problem-solve. After 30+ years in management and having owned my own businesses for 20+ years, I have a unique perspective and appreciation for your circumstance. My passion now is to share my experience with you and others in similar positions to help with the many challenges you face each day.
I am using the term “Business Advisory Services” as the umbrella term for the type of assistance I offer. These services can take the form of general business counsel, problem resolution, interim executive/management, advisory/board, team building, contract negotiations, business planning, organizational review, personnel evaluations, pricing, product and service opportunities, partnering opportunities, growth planning, financing, product development, brainstorming and more. In other words, to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself and your company.
This service is based on the principle that not any one of us is capable of doing it all. Recognition of this fact is not a sign of weakness but is really the first step toward improvement. The problem we have as small business owners is how to acquire the help we need in a manner that makes sense and is affordable. Many times we are constrained financially by how much we can pay an additional full time executive and we are reluctant to give away part of our company to an unproven outsider.
My rates are flexible and can be customized to your situation. As your trusted advisor, my services can be utilized on an as-needed basis so as to not increase your overall fixed cost. This type of “outsourcing” is viewed in business today as an essential strategy for acquiring the skills and experience needed by companies both large and small. Because of the contractual nature of the relationship, you would not have to cover any additional payroll and benefit costs normally associated with regular employees not to mention holiday, sick and vacation pay. The only additional cost you would incur would be for any direct out of pocket expenses associated with any work performed on your behalf.
My commitment to you will be to put your needs first, to build trust, to return value, to be impartial, to not take credit and to be constructive. I will not accept an assignment that I do not feel qualified to perform and I will be supportive and respectful of you in all my dealings with your employees, trading partners and other key relationships with whom I may come in contact. In other words, I will represent you in a professional manner.
I look forward to discussing how I might be of service. Please contact at the email address shown below.
Sincerely,
Randy L. Boyd
